day 5: I’m the subject of this self portrait that I took of myself: Just playing around with color efex pro. Last year I did nearly the entire 365 with only minor processing (crops, color corrections in iPhoto, etc). This year I’m gonna try my hand at post processing. For a little while I thought of doing 365 self portraits, then I came to my senses, and posted pics of the wife instead :)
Untitled: He rarely walks anywhere. He jumps, skips, hops, climbs, crawls, flies, swings, rolls, skates, and wiggles. But rarely walks.
day 4: I am a developer: I recently purchased a super ricohflex twin lens reflex camera on ebay for $30 (including shipping). I specifically got this camera because it was medium format, and I wanted to try it for myself, after discovering the format on flickr. After winning the camera on ebay, I ordered film online, as well as all the equipment necessary for developing black and white film at home. You can get everything you need to develop at home for around $50. I shot my first test roll yesterday morning, and began the development process last night. Unfortunately I don’t have a scanner yet, or else I would post the results. The scanner I chose is on backorder 10-14 days, plus another 4 days for shipping, so I won’t be able to posting these in the next two weeks. It was a nerve racking process. I’ve never used this camera before. Could a $30 ebay camera really work? I think there’s two accidental double exposures. I’ve never loaded film in the dark before, it wouldn’t load in the reel right away even after practicing in daylight. I’ve never mixed developer before, not difficult but the directions make it sound like every second is super critical. You can see the selfies I took in the negative :)
heading out: She was leaving to go shopping when I stopped her for another picture. She totally hated yesterday’s pic and I’m sure she won’t love this one either. Still though, she’s very supportive of this hobby of mine. This shot was totally an accident, my flash didn’t fire as usual. I’m constantly replacing the batteries. The light from outside was just enough to expose her face. I still had to bump up the exposure in aperture to make her face more visible.
